FAQ’s
Tiled stove systems are also available as whole-house heating systems – what form does that take?
In today’s modern forms of housing (the keyword here being low-energy house), it is possible to use a tiled stove to heat an entire house without any problem. In this system, a portion of the energy is transferred to hot water, and this hot water is distributed through the house using a buffer store and radiant wall heating elements, for example. One optimum variation would be to combine this system with a solar energy system.
What advantages does a tiled stove have over other forms of heating, such as an open fire or other kinds of stove?
With a tiled stove, wood only needs to be added once or at most twice a day in order to ensure that it is pleasantly warm around the clock. Open fires and other kinds of stove only emit heat while the fire is burning. They also primarily heat the air, and cause it to dry out.
The advertisement always refers to the “feel-good factor”, but people always feel good when they are warm. What is so different about a tiled stove?
The cosy warmth of a tiled stove can be explained by its mild radiant heat, which warms the human body directly rather than just heating the air. This also means that a tiled stove does not dry the air out, and it doesn’t disperse dust. Scientific studies have shown that the atmosphere created by a tiled stove enables people to relax much better.
What are the advantages of a tiled stove?
A tiled stove has many advantages. These include the cosy and wholesome warmth, the use of wood as a fuel source which is both renewable and CO2-neutral, its long life expectancy and lasting value, the security of supply (no electricity, oil or gas), the low operating costs and the potential to have a completely individual design.
What funding can I expect to receive when I buy a tiled stove?
Virtually every federal province provides funding for tiled stoves, generally amounting to between € 1,500 and € 3,000. In order to qualify, it is usually stipulated that the tiled stove for which funding is requested is the main heating system in the apartment or house.
How many tiled stoves are there in Austria?
There are currently about 480,000 tiled stoves in Austria. Some 15,000 new tiled stoves are built every year. Of the nearly 3.5 million households in our country, currently about 13.8 percent of all households have a tiled stove.
